Since 1973, the Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona has been dedicated to the welfare of people with epilepsy. The goals are the prevention and cure of seizure disorders, the alleviation of their effects, and the promotion of independence and optimal quality of life.
Epilepsy is a medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions. It’s also called a seizure disorder. When a person has two or more seizures, they are considered to have epilepsy.

Each summer, Camp Candlelight gives its young participants an experience they won’t soon forget. For one week, kids ages 8-15 with epilepsy, come together and enjoy all the fun activities and friendships that come with a trip to camp, while leaving be¬hind various challenges epilepsy can bring to their daily lives.
Information and Referral Operators offer a broad range of information about epilepsy and assistance in reaching needed services.
Many Opportunities exist for youth including: Camp Candlelight (Ages 8-17), Dotty the Dalmatian Has Epilepsy (Pre-K through 2nd Graders), Kids on the Block (3rd – 5th Grade), Take Charge of the Storm (Ages 11-18), Arizona Youth Leadership Council and Kids Speak Up.
Camp Candlelight provides children ages eight to fifteen with a unique camping experience that combines traditional camp activities with specialized sessions that teach the campers about their seizures and gives them valuable tips in dealing with the challenges seizures may present. The children also enjoy meeting other children who share similar experiences.
